Blog: Wiki So Far


On our class Wiki there are many topics available that could interest everyone in the class. The wide variety allows for people to add or edit to what others have wrote on topics that interest them. So far I have done both of these things. I focused mostly on the YouTube page where I added two sections titled “Tj Hunt” and “Throtl”. In these sections I wrote about these two channels along with attaching pictures and references. Other edits I have made to the YouTube page are in the sections of Adam LZ, Mo Vlogs, iJustine, Wong Fu Productions, Unbox Therapy, Jenna Marbles, Logan Paul, Jake Paul, Lele Pons, Emma Chamberlain and David Dobrik. In these sections I updated things such as their subscriber/viewer numbers and added additional information about them.
         In addition to the YouTube page I also added some content and references in the Sports, Traveling and Fitness pages. On the Sports page I added and changed things in the “Skip and Shannon: Undisputed”, “First Take” and “The Herd with Colin Cowherd” sections. I included a lot more information on these shows and took out some unnecessary/repetitive information. On the fitness page I made a small edit to the “MyFitnessPal” section and on the traveling page I added to the “Expedia” section. I plan to continue adding information during the remaining time we have left for the Wikis.

New Media fosters and promotes creativity in many ways. Many companies such as Apple have come up with new ways for people to express themselves. The integration of Memojis and Emojis is one example of how new media promotes creativity. The amount of flexibility one has to do whatever they want with them definitely plays a big role in it too. In Claire Cain Miller’s article, “Twitter Serves Up Ideas from Its Followers,” it shows how not only Apple, but other large corporations use new media to expand and better their products. Miller states that Twitter updates and improves their platform based on their users’ ideas. The creators don’t do much besides analyze what their consumers are saying and taking that and turning it into something new. Besides Twitter and Apple, many companies use this method of gathering ideas from their consumers to create something new. File sharing is characterized as the public or private sharing of computer data through a variety of networks and the internet. This allows for a more efficient and advanced way of sharing information, that benefits most. P2P file sharing is a type of file sharing that allows users to access media files like books or games. It uses a peer-to-peer software program that looks for other connected computers on the network to find the preferred content. Some examples of P2P file sharing are LimeWire, BearShare, Gnutella, and eMule. LimeWire allows users to search, share and download files from the internet. BearShare and Gnutella both could be used to share music files and eMule connects both the eDonkey and Kad networks.
